This is our second full winter with ducks. A few of my ducks are almost 2 (fawn runners, 1 KC), the rest are almost 1 (black, chocolate, and blue runners; Pekins). They all had the big molt in the late summer/early fall. We noticed this week that there seems to be a surplus of feathers again in their run. We haven't had any eggs in about a month from the older ones. The younger ones haven't laid any yet. We put a light in their coop about a week ago hoping to jump start the eggs. We're in the Midwest "enjoying" a colder winter than in years past. :) We're still relatively new to ducks (we've had chickens for years).

My questions are: How often to ducks molt and is it normal for them to molt in the winter?

:welcome

I don't know if its normal but my Runners have done the same. I have one female that is still growing in her flight feathers. They all will be 2 in May. No eggs here since early Dec.
Maybe the temps have something to do with it this is only my going on 2nd year with these ducks, My Muscovy's have a big molt in Fall and if they have a light molt other times of the year it isn't noticeable.
