fresh veggies....

what I did was cut an apple into quarters, so they can pick at it, and carry it around and play chick keep away. also I did small pieces of stuff too. I would do both so they can experience both. mine love corn of course, and apple cores, and lettuce, and tomato. they're not crazy about carrots at all.

I know this isn't a vegetable really, but mine love grits(leftover cooked btw)!! I just chunk some out to them and they all go crazy, and there will be big pieces and little pieces for them to pick and scratch at.

I had some over ripe Banannas, so I pealed them and threw them in the pen and they went totally bonkers! Most new foods I put in there they kinda look over and taste test for a little while before they eat it, but the Nannas, I think they just went for with no hesitation and actually fought over them! LOL They love the wild strawberries growing in the yard too,and they discovered my mullberry bush too. They had a blast jumping up and eating them too.

. I plant a nice veggie garden for them. Their favorites are ... Yellow pear tomato, green beans, peas, swiss chard, strawberries, watermelon, corn, ect... In the cold winter months I give them triple cherry fruit cocktail from the can (syrup drained out of course) I don't rinse the fruit off because i think the sugar in that syrup helps them generate more energy to stay warm. The one thing i found they didn't care for was blackberries, they loved raspberries but not the blackberries.

Mine are picky too..

Corn was a nono , but then I boiled it and took it down from where it was hanging and then they ate it .

Broccoli they really like,
watermelon wount touch it .

Lettuce and cabbage wount touch it.

strawberries and blueberries no way .

Rice ..... GO CRAZY!!!!!! LOOOOVE it .

Yes, the TNR I am involved in releases the cats back into their natural habitat. I live in a suburb where there were many feral cats that kept having kittens that I raised and found homes for. I was also able to tame a few adults also.
When I decided to partake in TNR, I also agreed to provide food, water and shelter to them as their caregiver. They have it pretty good. A nice place to sleep that has heated beds in the winter.
In 3 years, my colony went down from 17 to 3, and there are no new kittens on the street. I rarely find a dead bird, but they bring me gifts of mice, shrews, and moles. I do realize the problems where you are.
PM me if you have any questions.

I gave my flock leftover guacamole once (not spicy) with some corn kernels mixed in, and they DEVOURED it! The funny thing is that several of them wiped their beaks on my pant legs afterwards. Talk about gratitude!!!

Mine love yogurt, I started making my own plain and mix fruit and veggies in for them...this morning they ate all of the yogurt and only nibbled the apple slices! The apples will most likely be gone by the time I get home though. Sometimes I add a little honey too.

Mine also love kale, spinach, and bananas...oatmeal, rice, and brewer's grain (after being boiled).

Yesterday Dunch wiped her beak in my hair....ew. Normally after yogurt treats, they wipe their beaks on the grass.

I found out my baby girls are picky, i have triied several things i read they would like, we have had them since 3 days old. they wont eat strawberrys, and only lettuce if it is hanging so they can pull bits off of it or if i tear it small, but they go crazy for tomatoes sliced in half, that juicy seedy part, they fight like crazy for it. they wont eat worms unless i break them into small pieces but will freak out and gobble down crickets whole. my girls are 7 weeks old, they dont like cracked corn but love millet, wheat and oats, and it seems like if one likes it they all do, i think my most friendly chick thats first in line for everything is going to be the "boss" hen, (her name is mergatroid) because if she likes something they all do, shes the one who hops on my lap when i sit down in the coop to visit. she also pecks at the freckle's on my legs.

i found that mine don't like strawberries unless I cut them in half, so they can get to the soft part....then they go wild.
and as far as worms go, if it wiggles they are checking it out...sometimes they'll play tug of war with it (kind of gruesom, but funny all at the same time)
