I got a incubator aired it and cleaned it up before using it, but it started smelling once we got it going... well my mom sent me a nasty egg! I was so glad the neighbors eggs were in the other tray!

I tossed the carton they were on and replaced it for good measure, and candled for anymore duds, found three more that were very suspicious and removed them! AND found a couple with movement, so obviously someone had been sitting on some of them!

I aired out the incubator best I could without affecting the temp and all, but was wondering about putting baking soda or something in there to absorb any more smell... that shouldn't hurt anything should it?

I have sprinkled backing soda in one of my bators, when I had a bad egg,the rest hatched with no problems.

Makes sense given the situation. it should be fine.
