Freshly Laid Rotten Eggs and Mice?

I’ve recently started getting some rotten eggs from my flock. I know they are fresh but when I crack them open, they stink and are black. I’m worried now that people I’ve given eggs to will have rotten ones! I’ve seen some posts on this with no for sure cause but am really concerned that I have a hen with an infection. I’ve also recently started noticing mouse droppings in my coop. I’ve put out traps but am still seeing them. I’ve been freaked out about both of these things and now am wondering if they could be related? My hens act healthy but could one have an infection from mice? Or could mice be somehow contaminating the eggs after they’re laid? I collect everyday so there’s not much of an opportunity but I am baffled by the rotten eggs and really hoping it’s not a terminal problem in one of my hens. Not sure if this is even a possibility, but any feedback or advice is greatly appreciated!

Not likely the mice are causing the rotten eggs, especially after the eggs are laid.
But trapping the mice is a good idea.
Have you caught any?

You gather eggs daily?
Pics of rotten eggs, whole and broken open in a dish?
Do you know which bird is laying them?
Time to tell your customers to open eggs one at a time in a separate dish before adding to pan or recipe, save the whole egg shell and all in a container for you to inspect, and replace.

I’ve caught several mice and still see more. I know poison is a no-no but really considering it.
The eggs look totally normal on the outside. I haven’t taken a picture of a rotten one because it’s so disgusting I try to get rid of it as fast as I can. Next time I have one though, I will post a picture. They’re completely black with little yellow/green specks in them. I am collecting eggs daily but am not sure which hen it is. Any suggestions on how to figure that out?

Just keep trapping....it could take weeks before you stop catching them or seeing any signs
I keep traps set all year round.
Clear away nesting sites, in and around the coop.
Keep feed in metal garbage cans.
There are a ton of mice threads in the pests and predator forums.
If you need more tips.
