My 3 yr. old in her groin/leg area has a friction burn from something or other... the pull ups? the swimsuit? a combo of both??

Anyway...it's REALLY red and sore. I've been putting baby powder on it. It's been hot and muggy with the heat index of 100*.

We have Bible camp in the morning till noon...otherwise I'd think about just letting her go naked for a while. Today is crazy busy though.

Any other suggestions for a bad friction burn in a really hard to heal area?

Help... she hurts.

Thanks.

I always used A & D ointment, but watch that it doesn't get infected. The groin area is sort of a bad area to get "galled" in, bless her heart. I think after it starts to heal a little bit, try a dab of medicated powder, it is so good for raw areas that are in cracks and stuff, but it also can hurt if its too raw on a little one. I get mine at DG for $1 and it works just as good as the other $$ kind. I think the pull ups and little swimmers and things hold the heat in too, so that helps aggravate it worse. Going naked is good too, just don't let her fall on something. . .that was always my biggest fear.

Good luck!!!

I would put everything that requires leaving home on hold and let her go naked for a good day or so and I would skip the baby powder. If she seems to get damp and sweaty in the creases, pat her dry with a really soft towel

have you switched laundry soaps?

**gonna get personal guys close your eyes! **
I switched my laundry soap a few years back and I got such a rash where the elastic on your underwear would sit in the groin area, while I was at home I wore nothing under my PJ's cause i could not stand the pain i was thinking ok it will go away after a few days. wrong

we had DS birthday party and i had to wear DH's boxer briefs cause i could not stand the burning feeling of my underwear.

well it turns out that it got infected from being an open sore for 3 - 4 days and I had to get a prescription cream to get rid of it.

try bathing the area is saline solution (salted water) keep it clean and apply an antibiotic ointment

ok... A & D is what I use... I just didn't know if I should use it on that or not?

Well... I volunteered for Bible camp so they need me and everyone I know is at camp or on vacation.

and I have cardiac rehab today and that... well... I have to go to.

then we'll be back home and grandma is sitting tonight so I can go to my ladies Bible study... so she can be naked in a couple of hours.

no swim diapers for her... she just has a little bikini but we've been swimming the last 4 days.

I think I should have gone with the size 3-4 pull ups instead of the 2-3's...maybe I'll go get the slightly bigger ones so when she does have to go out and about she can wear those.

Aquaphor the heck out of it, trust me it heals all

try organic diapers or pull ups like Earths Best or 7th generation they make a huge difference.
