thanks to you to mahonri.

I wouldn't recommend the desitin or any of the ointments. I would just keep up with keeping it dry and sprinkle cornstarch powder on it. I watch 2 little ones, their mother (who shouldn't be one) for a while did not change them for long periods of time, when they would come back from being with their 1-2 days a week with her, they would be so sore in their diaper area. There were raw open spots. So sore that they would tense up knowing that they had to be changed. (No worries, I took care of that situation and things are better now) I would only wipe or actually just blot with warm wet wash cloths (or paper towels if it was messy) and let them air dry. Then I would sprinkle them with the cornstarch baby powder. Within a day or 2, they would clear up and start to heal. I found that the desitin and ointments were hard to wipe off and made them worse. Air drying will really help, the ointments keep it covered all the time and will take longer to heal. I have seen air and cornstarch heal some of the worst diaper rash you could imagine, and I mean that.

I hope you get your little girl comfortable again, it is not fun to be sore

Poor little gal!

i used to use desitin on my oldest DD's hineys.. well, the youngest DD, she seemed "allergic" and would break out worse if i used it... so i used Baby Aveeno diaper rash stuff.. that worked wonders. i use it still in her cracks and crevices cuz she's such a chub lol check out her chubby arm in this pic:) this is an old pic... but i don't have a newer one yet that's all cropped lol

Milk of magnesium, you know they stuff for the belly.
Use a cottonball or something like that dab it on the area it will dry it up.
Corn starch is great too. During the summer I keep it on my son's groin area.
Aquaphor is good too. But the natural or best organic way is to mix the corn starch and some powdered clove.
The clove numbs. Good luck I also know the pain of have a child w/ that kind of rash.

Wow - this brings back memories!

I let them go naked in the backyard for a day or two and expose the area to direct sunlight. Sunlight is a natural bacteria killer and works great!

Good luck!

No diapers during the day, let her wear a pair of big girl panties and begin potty training, having the area moist will only irritate it. So go get a pack of pretty pink panties, and tell her they're "big girl only" and she can wear them as long as she keeps them dry. Then keep her in dresses a few days so it's easier for her to get to her panties.
