Fridge eggs-

I've successfully hatched refrigerated eggs. I did it as an experiment. The eggs were from my own flock (Silkies). They were all pullet eggs (first laid), they were stored improperly (pointed end up) and they'd been in my fridge for almost 2 weeks when I'd decided to incubate them. Out of 7 eggs, I ended up with 2 chicks- one of which I still have.

Happy hatching :)

she was a fridge chick.
I picked up some more fridge eggs from down the street...
They are going in the incubator too. too dark to candle- one was a clear.

So today is day 5. I removed the clears. 9 health food fridge eggs have spider webs.

of my friends fridge eggs- I have 7 with spider web action- they are a bit more advanced than the health food eggs.

and I have 5 farm eggs from down the street on day 3.

so I am starting the count with 21 fridge eggs. they say fridge eggs hatch out 50% but I don't know if that is after the clears are removed.

I will update again in one week.

have 8 health food store eggs developing- 8 friend eggs developing day 7-

5 green/gray eggs developing, day 5

mystery eggs- the healthfood eggs are most likely production red, my friends Coo coo maran rooster breed with speckled sussex, coo coo maran, EE and RIR hens, and the Green Grey ones are EE.

There blood lines will all be diff. so healthier.

so the "rock Island" eggs are not from Rock Island in WA st. they are from Cal. so they were probably not as fresh as I thought they were. but I have 8 going.

I Talked to the lady who owns the farm she told me where to find the date on the eggs, and I found them to have been 14 days old when placed in bator.

And she said RIR and Leghorn.

I am considering throwing 8-10 eggs under my broody hen. I neighbour said he would give me some as I don't have a rooster. It averaging -3 C here. Eggs are cool when I collect but not ever frozen, do you think I have a 50% chance? Obviously a hen is more unpredictable than a bator...
Btw your experiment is very cool!
