Update: The hen doesn't have anymore bubbles in here eye right now. It's a little swollen around the one eye though. There isn't any smell and there isn't anything coming out of her nose. She's had a cross-beak all her like and I was hoping it would have something to do with that. All the other birds are fine eyes and noses are fine. I really hope it isn't MG..doesn't that mean the whole flock would have to be put down.....

i don't know that you'll have to put your flock down. your swollen eye is now indicating you need to run and get one of those drugs. our chicken and many chickens go through this. just go to a feed store and get the antibiotic for like $5-10. you can call the manufacturer for help in how much to give. Erythromycin, tylosin, spectinomycin, and lincomycin. TSC will have one of these...it might not be labeled for chickens but goats or something.

if caseous material (yellowish nasty cheese and a stench) starts appears in this eye, then coryza has set in too. they often come together. so you'll run back to TSC and get the nfs puffer. it is made for dogs and cats and near the horse medicine. use gloves

an ointment for they eye, or a saline/epsom salt wash daily will help clear up the swollen and fizzy eye.

it is not that big of a deal. you'll save the $70 vet bill we spent.

if you don't treat this soon, crud will be deposited in the sinuses or nasal cavity. this will make the eye fizz for a long time. a vet may have to wash it out.

you can easily trim the beak by snipping off a little bit of the beak.

She isn't to bad of a crossbeak but just a litle to were her nostrils are kinda messed up. She did get some Saline to clean the eye with and some steril gauze pads. When she wiped the eye with the guaze pad it looked like there was a little dirt on it. but not sure if it came from the eye or not. So what stuff should she get from TSC again? list?

write these down and go to tractor supply (TSC) - Erythromycin, tylosin, spectinomycin, and lincomycin. just look at the labeled active ingredient. some drugs will only be labeled for goats or dogs so you'll need to downsize the dosage according to weight.

if you need help calculating dosage, google the manufacturer's name and "customer service."

Just wanted t update:

We took her to the vet and it turned out it was nothing. Just a little sinus problem because of her crossbeak IT WAS NOTHING CONTAGIOUS so I was happy

WOW, you are good! I was just at the WSU Avain Health Vet today with the same symptons as this thread . The vet told me the same as you did except she told me to put 2 cups bleach in 1 gal. water and mix. Then for every 1 galon water add 1oz of the mix and give it to every bird. She said it will stop the bug but I still have to treat the bird with tylan. You can give the bleach as much as you want it wont hurt them at all. We think my bird got it from a muddy stinky mud puddle.We had to fill the mud hole so the birds wont drink the yuckie water again.

Ok before you jump the gun and assume its anything that could be carried over for life. You must know that there are several different things that can cause this to happen. some are very serious and some are very petty. i just went threw this big giant scare listening to alot of people on this forum.I am a NPIP certified flock. I had the State vet and the state doctor at my house with a wagon and Bio gear ready to eradicate my farm just because I listened to alot of this feed back.
I had to surrender 2 birds to the state of Oklahoma for testing. in which they Killed and sent off for testing. after the state doctor explained to me how eradication worked I mentally prepared myself to lose 350 Birds with no reinvestment.
After hours of swabbing and the state doctor rushing my tests to Stillwater Oklahoma. we had the results back by 6:30 Pm it ended up being a respitory Cold from the weather change. Very common in Broiler birds where it started. then moved its way around my flock. So with that being said. Get you some LS-50 or LS-200 mix 5 tbs to 5 gallons of water. Place the water in small amounts the amount you think the Birds will drink. also get some tylan -50 injectable. Inject 1/2 cc for bantam breeds and 1/4 to 1cc in standard breeds into the left breast just under the skin. (make sure to draw back on syringe so your sure your not in a vein.) Also get some Vet RX and carefully hold your bird so that its nostrils are facing down Place a few drops inside the beak cavity careful not to tilt the head back so it doesn't run down the wrong pipes.
Also place 1 drop of Vet RX under each wing and cover the waddles and comb with it. The problem with so many people mis diagnosing birds on these forums is they sometimes forget that 90% of your poultry diseases all share common symptoms. so before you start Culling and eradicating animals or live with a fear that there carriers for life sacrifice your sickest Bird and get a state necropsy done.
it is free and at least this way you know exactly what you are dealing with. This is just my 2 cents. My flock only had a common cold that was easly treated and ran its course and I was givin the green light by the state to reopen and continue sales as Normal.
Had I listened to half the stuff on this forum my Birds would Probably be in a burn pit somewhere. Best of luck to you.

The vet gave me an oral med which I had to give her for 5 days and the swelling is down pretty much 99%. She's happy and healthy and now with the rest of the flock. The $70 vet trip was worth it.
