Just looking for some thoughts on this. I have an additional coop I have setup by our barn/workshop and I'd like to get a silver phoenix or game breed rooster with a couple hens to hang around during the day.
I have seen comments about the phoenix not being particularly friendly but I had a rooster years ago that basically followed me around like a puppy. He would even hop in the farm truck to ride along during chores. I'm not sure if that was a one-off or not given some of the comments I've seen. When I last had the silver phoenix, the hens (though flighty) were chick raising machines and I thought they might also do double duty raising some of our egg laying chicks.
