I just have to say I LOVE that my 3 week old babies (2 of them) perch on me every time I go in the coop.

Mine are three weeks old too and they started that today! Isn't it so sweet?!?1 And they just sit there totally comfortable even though we are giants lol. What kind and how many do you have?

I have a mix batch....one cochin (my friendly), one silkie/cochin mix, one silkie, one showgirl, one Araucana/Easter Egger, and one Wyandotte. They are an adorable batch. Two more cochins twice their age. I will upload pictures this weekend. The Araucana/EE loves for me to pet her and when I'm holding another one who doesn't feel the same way she does, she hops up on my arm. The cochin loves to perch on my shoulder. Very different from the first two that look just like her. I never thought I could have warm fuzzies about chickens, but I love my babies.

Aw cute! My wyandottes are friendly too. I have four BLRW ones and three of them looove to perch on me. It surprises me because the BLRW are soooo much friendlier than the GLW, even though they're the same breed. The glw doesn't want to be picked up or touched at all. The other friendly one I have is Isabel who is a red star i think

Don'tcha just love being a human perch for your chickies?

I do! I didn't know chickens could be so friendly, until I raised my own. The first ones we ever got hated me unless I fed them and were a little aggressive and pecked most of the eggs we got. I am glad to have had this experience for myself and my students this year. I take pictures of the "babies" (7 weeks now) and show the students. Many of them said this was their best memory for the year.

Ok, so I was doing idiom stems with my 3rd graders and the beginning was, "Don't count your chickens before they....." My students said, "Incubate!" I thought that was cute.....a real part of their vocabulary now.
