I have 2 Sebbies a male and female and they are my favorites of my flock! They just love being around people and watch you soo closely with their pretty blue eyes! I've been having trouble with one of my roosters mounting my ducks and when he mounts them those geese run over to him and peck at him until he gets off. They are very protective of the chickens/ducks and have given my dog a sore nose quite a few times when he's gotten to sniffing around where he wasn't wanted!!

My Gretchy doesn't know she is a goose, she is a little girl. She waits and stares in the glass front door and when we let her in, she roams around like she owns the place. She sits in my lap and gives me kisses. I love her!

We had 2 males that we raised and they were not nice around breeding season. I have friends with friendly males, I just had a bad experience.

Probably not. Domestic geese don't fly (there are always exceptions, but they still don't take off and fly like a wild goose).

If you have a Canada goose, they will fly very well and need their wings clipped.

They are too heavy, and the domestication process has not selected for ability to fly away from the farm

Maybe not fly long distances, but my brand new mated and paired
Pilgrims took off flying around the house the other day. I thought they were gone for sure.
They ended up in the far back field and I coaxed them up and back to the yard. They haven't left again.
The Africans were crabbing at them being the new kids, thats why they took off.
Everyone is good now. The Pilgrims seem to have taken to the ducks and stay close to them.

Are geese good at protecting the yard from invaders? I have 8 chickens that need a good watch "dog".

I made the mistake of getting my Gosling first before my chickens. Goose did NOT appreciate them moving into his territory. So now I have to keep them penned seperately and when goose catches an escapee he smacks it around. No real damage, but to show his displeasure.

So I'd be sure to get a gosling to raise around the chickens so you don't have the territory issues.

Of course, I only have the one goose with his buddy duck so he may just be spoiled.
