Nava's birds bring up a question. Her dotts are splash blue lace red. If they get this variety accepted, will all three color phases be showable ? What is the deal with other blue/black/splash breeds that are already in the standard ? I believe I have seen all three colors of cochins at shows. Andalusians ?

Anyone ever have a day where you're so tired nothing is going right and you don't know whether to laugh, scream, or cry?

My youngest is teething, got called into work early and was out the door by 11am. I just got home and have to be back in at 10am.
Tomorrow I'll catch up on what I missed. Good night if anyone is still awake.

I'm not sure Big M. I know splash Polish aren't recognized, not sure about blue. Blue and splash are accepted in Silkies, but I am not sure about other breeds.

It depends on how they are accepted. The blue phase will probably be the first admitted. Splash is accepted in silkies, but not in polish, and it all works the same way. They can be shown in the any other variety under the breed, but can't take anything higher than best of variety. I've heard of people entering the black phased ones as gold laced wyandottes because many times the mahogany is richer in the blacks than in a normal gold laced.

Wow! I really want NN eggs this year, so send some my way

. I think they are cute, but DH thinks they are ugly so that means I MUST have some. Hee hee.

Here are some pics of Nat's OE grandchickies posing with their ecoglow.. They were just moved into the 'big chick' cage so they are still skittish and run into the corner. My last batch ran towards me all the time, these little guys seem to hate me. See the roos coming out already?

I'll upload better pic later, have to clean out my uploads folder - running out of space!

Two of the roo-boys.

I see four so far. Would be nice if the rest were girls, but you know how that goes. Wattles coming in already on these two, just over two weeks old.

Mine did the same thing, but once Natalie started laying she started running up to me and squatting. Much friendlier now!

I wish I had thought about the really dark chocolate eggs the straight combs would lay. I gave my straight combs to a friend with and organic free range egg biz and milk goat farm.
