My sister texted me Monday and told me that her husband's horse got caught in the fence,
the fencing cut her to the bone on one leg and fractured the other.
She had to have the neighbor come over and put her down,
she didn't have the heart to do it herself.
She's really had a tough winter with her animals...

Oh no, I've had that happen.

We had it happen with our appaloosa when I was a kid,
fortunately he was a VERY calm horse and just laid there waiting for us.
We were lucky and found him quickly too.
He got a few cuts and scrapes, but nothing too bad.

My sister said she drove by the pasture at 08:00 and she was fine,
drove back by at 08:30 and she was a mess...
It happened that fast.
She is still very upset... she lost chickens in the fall,
a calf and a cow all due to illnesses already this winter.

on top the dryer and it's been being used often?

I'd say no more than a week with all the heat?

It's only been since Monday afternoon, and I don't think anyone's done laundry since then.

I got a call that one of mine was down once... Had two that looked identical, longest drive of my life trying to get there to see which one.

Luckily, the one that got caught in the fence was salvagable. He was the first horse I gave stitches. A lot of stitches. Such a sweet baby too, let me do all the work without any arguement.

So sad when these things happen.

I feel bad for her...
She texted me the next day and asked me "Do you want some horse meat? The neighbors said we should eat her."
(she lives in Tennessee)
Tried cheering her up with the line from "Oh Brother, Where Art Thou?"
"The meat is good"
"really? I slaughtered this horse last Tuesday, I think she's fixin to turn on me"
"Mrs. Hogwaller RUNN OFT..."

Saving hot water tip # 63 from chickencoop...

Do you have more than one child who needs to shower daily?
Well, take a hint from me... make a game of it!

Tell them they must both shower at the same time
(in different showers of course)
and remind them whoever gets in first gets the most hot water.

They RUN for the shower!
By the time they have both been in for about 10 minutes,
ALL of the hot water is GONE! LMBO

If they shower separately, they run the water till it's all gone...
that's about 20 minutes each and TWO refills of the HW tank.
This way, 10 minutes and only have to refill the tank once

No need to thank me, my genius is free to all

Sadly no... we have about 5 mins for our showers, and then it's get the kids up for thiers, so we can start the 3 hour trip for Evan's hearing therapy.
