Well, since Saddi is elsewhere, I am guessing that "whelmed" is just the neutral point at which our reaction can start. Here we are at normal, then we are either blasted away by events, or completely bored by them. How 'bout that. Did we just make up a new word?

I think, having to help take care of me has changed the boy for good. Children shouldn't need to take care of thier mothers.
