Moving is never fun, but at least you can put the young adult freeloaders to work. How soon can you move in?

My little broody hatched her chicks and had them out of the nest box today!

She's a little Serama and she was sitting on 3 of her own eggs and 3 OEGB eggs. Two of her eggs hatched and two of the OEGB hatched, then I gave her 4 Serama chicks that I hatched in the incubator, so she has 8 teeny tiny babies. I removed the nest and both unhatched eggs - the Serama egg was dead but I could swear I felt movement in the OEGB egg. I held it up to my ear and could hear cheeping and could see a teeny pip, so I put it in the incubator. I don't know when she got off the nest, but hopefully it will still hatch.

I'll try to get some pictures soon.

Awwww. I'd love to see a Serama mama.

Here's one of her when she was still sitting on the nest.

It's her first time going broody and she did an excellent job! I never saw her off the nest, but I saw a new broody poo daily, so I knew she was getting up every day.

Nice big kitchen! Does it have a barn for the goats and horses?

No barn, but a shed we can use for storage (tack) and a covered patio til we do get it built. We are moving next week.

Here's a picture of my Serama roo. He's Sampson, she's Delilah.

The Wheaten hen and Speckled hen passed away unexpectedly and all my attempts at hatching Serama eggs were not working out. I was just about ready to give up on Seramas when I finally got some Serama chicks to hatch and Delilah turned out to be a great broody!

Are you new here?

Yeah I usually peruse the sheep forum but came over to chickens for a change.

It's really nice to see you, Purple.
