I just watch Twister. I'm sure that's about as close to a real one as I want to get.

It's weird though. I'm in the middle of tornado alley and I haven't ever seen a tornado other than what I've seen in pics and the TV.

Nature seems to like me a bit much. My house has been hit by lightening... Twice. But nothing caught fire. My computer was fried and a couple of lights busted from the heat. The pool system needed fixing too.
I've seen several tornadoes. Back in Chicago we always went into the basement. That was a really long time ago, so I don't remember much except the howling winds and flying leaves.
The lakehouse is in a L form. Right in the crook of an L, there was a tornado that knocked a tree down while the previous owners hid in the closet. Of course, knowing the structural integrity of that house before my father had it remodeled, that wasn't a very safe place to be.
The Dallas house has had several tornadoes jump right over it, take a left, and follow the street right on out of the suburb. No damage, except one guy's trampoline was lifted right on out of his backyard and into the street. Guess the tornado wanted to take it with it.

This is one of the many reasons we call this town, "The bubble".

I've ALMOST been bitten by one and I've seen 2. The one that was about to bite me I couldn't see.

That part of the country is too hot to wear shoes but not safe enough to go barefoot

Up here I can ditch the shoes as soon as the snow is less than 3" deep. Then it's flip flops and sandels till the snow is over 3" again.

Where I live I haven't seen any rattlers...I was in the Big Bend when I wondered into some thick brush and met Mr.snake.
