Just a point of clarification.... Not all ponies are little. Some are 14' 2" and so are some horses.

My pony was a shade under 14'2. I used to say with shoes on she'd be a horse. I sold her when I went away to college and haven't had a horse since.

That is not a pony. Duke is 14'3 and duchess is 14'1 - they are NOT small.

The designation of pony is a qualification of breeding not necessarily a determination of height. Like all animals there are those that are outside the breed standard and thus taller than 14 hands.

Add to that fact the reality that most ponies are not purebred anything, but a casual mixture of this and that, which often increases the chances they will be outside of the breed standard.

The current Pony of America standard has expanded the height from 13 hands to 14 hands high. Is it really that far of a stretch to add an inch or 2?

Sorry about the over clarification. Somethings just make me want to find a soapbox.

Good morning!

Tuesday I found 7 kittens in a pile of junk behind my barn. Once I discovered them the mama was taking them away one by one. I saw her run up the hill with one, but wasn't fast enough to see where she went. It took her 24 hours to get 6 of them. So Wednesday, when I got up, there was one kitten left, it was so cold and hungry. I warmed it up and dropper fed it. I left it out there all day. Then at 8pm Wed night, it was still there and getting cold again. I called DIL to get a kitten feeding bottle from her cuz it was just too hard feeding it with that dropper. So she came up with the idea, lets give it to her mama kitty that has 4 week old kittens. Her mama took to it immediately and was licking it and purring and making that cute mama cat sound and rolling on her back, come on eat. It finally latched on. Then a few minutes later when all her kittens came to eat, 5 of them that are 4 times the size of the little kitty, well, it was just so darn cute, its little itty bitty tail sticking out amongst all those bigger kittens. It looked like a lizards tail in there sticking out.

My first horse was a POA. Gosh, I dunno, she must of been 13 something hands. So long ago, and I was a short kid back then too!

And then you also have your miniatures horses, that are shorter than ponies, but are horses. So yes, it is in the breed, not the size.
And I do not know if my pony, Little Big Man is a specific breed, or not. Next tiem I see those people I will ask if they know. All I know is he is cute as a button. So he is Cute as a Button breed! CAAB

Most of the time I have my chickens out free ranging. Sometimes I forget to close the gate after they all go to bed. Cotton is in the same pen as the rest of the girls and she has that baby chickie I gave her a couple weeks ago. She always keeps little chickie in the pen even when the gate is open. I just went out to feed, had left the gate open last night, and Cotton has her baby chickie out in the pony corral! So today is the first day Cotton has taken her baby chickie out to free range. Its so cute!!

I'm pretty sure we do not have fireflies in our area.
