I don't think you're crazy. I was afraid others would think I was crazy if I said as much.
My heart felt a lot of messages with Frightful.

That was my very first thought. I was afraid to say it, but I truly believe it.
I am so glad that Frightful is doing better. Wonderful news!

I know I thought the same thing. So there's plenty of "crazy" to go around!

Frightful has a diligent guardian angel on her side.
My daughter always loved birds. We could go to Parrot Mountain and all the meaner, nippy birds would climb on her arm and snuzzle up to her. And they didn't want to climb off of her when it was time for us to go. It was amazing.

She is doing most excellent right now.

I'm going to go help the Center clean cages & such on Saturday. Hopefully I can get a new pic of my favorite hawk as well

As someone who works in wildlife rehab, I must commend you highly. You did exactly what you should have done. From the equipment you used, the way you approached the bird, by not feeding him and by contacting a rehab facility. All too often we admit a bird or animal that has been taken in by a well meaning individual and darn near killed with their kindness. People feed fawns pastuerized cow's milk, Cardinals earth worms etc and although most of the time, we can salvage the birds...we have lost many fawns to wicked diarrhea. On a side note, with raptors...their talons are their "guns". Always keep an eye as to where they are looking (for example your arm or face) but know that they will not strike out with their beek.....just their feet. Eagles will try and bite tho. Keeping a jacket or big towel over their head at all times not only quietens them but keeps you safe. But lets hope you never come across an Eagle by the side of the road. Red Tails are a hardy bunch and I am sure your hawk will be just fine. Releasing him back in the same (but safe)area is exactly what needs to be done if at all possible.
