Hello I have some frizzle breeding questions. I have learned from some posts that frizzle x frizzle is bad. I have two red frizzle cochin pullets, and a red frizzle cochin cockerel (that I think is a double frizzle). we exhibited the frizzles at the fair and the judge really liked them. I want to raise some to show . so my question is can I use my buff cochin roo with the girls, or do I need to find a red roo. On the cockerel is it true that he will throw frizzle no matter what he is bred too, even my recently widowed buff laced polish ? I also have a blue frizzle hen. thank you for any advice

You are correct in that breeding frizzle to frizzle is bad. You don't want to do that at all

You can cross the frizzles with anything you want, and you'll have a 50/50 chance of the chick being frizzled. If you want full cochin chicks then you need a smooth feathered cochin roo, that does not carry the frizzle gene. Other wise you will have a frizzle "mutt" chick (nothing wrong with that, but I'm not sure how good it would be for showing - I don't show so I don't know what type of classifications they have for the chickens. As far as your double frizzled boy is concerned, I'm not sure if he will produce 100% frizzle babies or not.
