Is the frizzle gene dominant or recessive?

I had posted yesterday about some Turkin eggs hatching out with feathers on their neck. The guy who gave them to me said that his frizzle rooster had mated with the NN & that's why not all of them have naked necks. So far 3 out of 4 have feathered necks. Is it possible that any of them will be frizzles?

Also, in the bator it seems like they are trying to peck the NN's exposed neck. Is this going to be a problem?

Frizzles are fun, but you don't know what you are going to get
with your being half it will be fun..

Frizzling is dominant. In the heterozygous state the frizzling is ideal, in the homozygous state the frizzling is crazy. So if he crossed a heterozygous frizzle to a non frizzle, you could get 50% frizzled.

Both frizzle and naked neck genes are incompletely dominant. That means that there is a noticeable difference in the appearance of birds with one copy versus two.

A frizzle with 2 copies of frizzle will be overly frizzled, resulting in overly curled feathers and poor feather quality. These birds are called curlies, and it is an undesirable trait. That is why most breeders will not breed frizzle to frizzle--25% of the babies would be curlies.

A naked neck with two copies of the gene (Na/Na) tends to have less neck feathering than one with only one copy of the gene (Na/na). To the best of my knowledge there is no universal preferance of Na/Na versus Na/na.

An Na/na bird mated to an na/na bird will have 50% who are Na/na and 50% na/na.

Combine those two together (let's assume the frizzle is F/f and the naked neck is Na/na) and you will have (assuming you hatch enough birds for the probabilities to bear out) approximately 25% who are both frizzled & naked necked, 25% who are frizzled, 25% who are naked necked and 25% who are neither.

Is there a way to tell about frizzling as chicks?

You will be able to tell in a short time, these are my Frizzles and they will be two weeks tomorrow! The 2 on the left are the Frizzles!
