We incubated and hatched this little one. The comb came in quickly red and we thought we heard it trying to crow. I was leaning towards roo but now I don’t know. It doesn’t like to be held so catching the little bugger yesterday was interesting to say the least. I have a picture attached it sounded like an alerting hen or an egg song when I tried to catch it.

At this age? that's a big set of comb and wattles... he's probably a cockerel. Pullets shouldn't grow their combs and wattles out until their around 20 weeks or so.

Do you have a clearer pic to be sure? Saddle feathers will completely tell the tale.

ETA: I took a second look after submitting this and have changed my words a little. I think a second, clearer pic will be best.

I kinda figured he was I will, try and get a picture later today. Yes he has a crow collar on, just loosely at this point, this morning he was crowing away 🤪 after my husband left for work. I know people think they are not good but I am watching him closely and don’t want to have to rehome. Would rather quiet him if possible. Hoping for some frizzle chicks down the road. We are big into 4H and my grands would be heartbroken if they could not show him. We are working on the handling so he is used to it before the fair. We have a few months. Hopefully this also will prevent any suprise attacks😀

Definitely a cockerel if he’s crowing and sporting those wattles and comb at 4 months.
