I recently bought 5 different breed turkey eggs! It was a suprise when they all hatched what breeds they were I think I ended up with 2 Narragansett and 2 possibly royal palms or midget whites I'm not 100% sure! Anyway they are all just starting to get their feathers and I noticed one of the Narragansetts feathers are all twisted an backwards and odd feeling! The other 3 all have normal feathers and are normal turkeys! My question is can a turkey be frizzle? And if so how much do they sale for? How unique is this??!? I have googled for hours and haven't found one thing on frizzled turkeys! If not what is wrong with my turkey because something is definitely up with its feathers??!? I've never in my life seen one like this and everyone else who's seen it has been stumped they've never seen one either! Hopefully I can get some answers on here?!? It's my last hope!! Before anyone says anything about their diet I did start them all out on Medicated Turkey Starter feed and I give them every other time I fill up their water electrolytes and vitamins! They all (knock on wood) seem to be thriving and doing well!?!?

I've got a 4-day Narragansett with a similar problem (well, mine might be a problem, yours might be a new variety!) Its right wing juts out funny and won't lay flat. I don't know if it's broken or what. It's eating, drinking and behaving perfectly normal. I can handle it without it seeming to hurt it. I wondered if it got a physical injury. The brooder lamp fell on my birds for just a couple of seconds (luckily I was right there when it happened so I grabbed it quickly). The birds didn't even peep when it happened, so I didn't think any of them were hurt (I was more worried about burns at the time and only noticed the funny wing later). It doesn't like it when I fan out its wing, but then none of them like that actually.

The turkey in the back has a normal wing that lies flat. The one in the front has a right wing that juts out:

The turkey on the left has a normal flat wing. The turkey on the right has the bent right wing:

The left wing (closest to camera) lies flat. The right wing juts up and out:

Sorry, I'm not much help. I'm trying to puzzle this one out, too. I hope someone will chime in.

eta: at first I didn't realize what you meant by "frizzle" but now I realize you meant something like those silky chickens, right? I thought you meant you had a hurt wing or some kind of health problem with the turkey! D'oh!

I noticed one of my poults has a 1-2 feathers like this after I had seen this thread. It looks like one of the older feathers that grew in when he was smaller, before I got him and the rest look fine. Just out of curiosity what percent protein is your turkey starter?

Mine was like this from day one um I'm not 100% positive I had the feed store order it it's purina I think! I just told him I wanted medicated turkey starter! I'll ask next time I go!

I got a turkey chick from a feed store about two months ago and he had the same "stick out wings" and now his back is covered in twisted feathers. I got a second one from the same group, the other is a slate, and they have been on the same diet and everything and he shows none of the feathers. His buddy is a pit bigger than he is but both appear healthy and are on a 21% chick starter and had meal worms added when they were smaller.

The wing feathers sticking out is completely normal, I have 4 turkeys (3 bb bronze, and 1 bourbon red) and they all had the feathers sticking out on the side when they were little. They all feathered out normal in the end. But I dont know about that narragansett.......

Same thing with 1 of the 3 I had when they were younger but as he got older the like about the same
