Frizzle thread

Thanks DSTINETT for the feedback. I go back and forth with it being a roo. She get really red when stressed and normally only a hint of pink on comb and waddle..although I agree they are big. I expected them to be quite red by now if he/she was a roo. Ahhh the waiting game. Can you tell what type she is...or is that difficult with a frizzle?

My hen does not have feathers on feet or legs. She is purebred Blue Wyandotte.
The black Frizzle look like a rooster to me.
I know..its looking like the frizzle may be a roo...but I will hold out hope. ;) I guess my maran is a maran then as he does have feathers on feet but looks a lot like your Wyandotte. Trying to figure him out.

I've only had frizzled Cochin's. He looks like one to me.

This evening, we are going to pick up 2 or 3 frizzle pullets! The lady said she was breeding her frizzle rooster with polish hens, standard cochins, welsummers, black austorlopes, and some bantam hens. I'm not sure just yet which ones we will be getting and I am sure they won't be pure but that is totally fine by me! :) I don't care so much about the purity of the breed so much as I just want some chickens to love! :) We are starting our backyard flock.. I got 2 black copper maran pullets yesterday (the guy does breed for show and these weren't show quality but they are pretty).

We wanted to start off with older chickens this time.. mainly because we had bad luck with chicks before. :(

Hi does anyone have a frizzled feathered pullet / hen between the ages 6 months old and 1yr old available for sale?
Im in NJ so will need shipping if you're not local. Not too picky about breed just would prefer standard size over bantam (but again not picky & would consider bantam)
Please PM me and let me know what you have available. Thanks

I'd noticed no ones responded, so I thought I'd chime in.

Have you asked on the NJ thread in the Where Am I? Where Are You? section of the forum? This is a bad time of year to ship, with it being hot and all and you might have better luck asking BYCers who are closer to you.

:)

Yeah been looking for a while now... Tried hatching some but out of 12 shipped eggs only 2 hatched and both were smooth feathered...Thanks though :)

Before I place an ad, is anyone in east Texas interested in helping me rehome 2 frizzled bantam Cochin cockerals? I want to make sure they go to a home that truly appreciates the breed

Here is my little frizzle gal who turned roo. Frizzles are so hard to tell the gender. The saddle feathers just dont really show. I find I have to rely on coloration. This one is coloring more like a roo than a hen but he is also attempting to crow and mate with his flockmates. That pretty much gives it away.
