Frizzle?

I really don't understand Frizzle chickens.... can someone enlighten me on the basics? thanks...reason i just purchased a beautiful Belgian d'uccle hen that was supposed to be a frizzle... but she turned out "normal". Are these frizzles genetic anomalies? like why do people do this to animals? I appreciate any feedback and wondering I my new "Millie" should be able to live a happy, "normal" chicken life. thanks

She had a 50/50 chance of being grizzled if one her parents were, she didn't get it.

Frizzles aren't in any pain and still have normal lives just like any other normal feathered chicken, they might need a wee bit more care in chilly weather but it's not harmful unless you breed two Frizzles together, then the chicks have horrible lives and are pretty naked.
It's a natural genetic glitch that happens in a few breeds, some people think it's cute so they breed for it.

Because so long as they're heterozygous for the gene, there no harm done to them. Plus some people like the look. It's no different than a silkied chicken or a naked neck

Mine did decent in -15F so long as they weren't outside or anywhere drafty.
