I have a chick that is feathering out a bit with white feathers that look very much like my frizzle chickens did when they started to feather out. Are there frizzle quail? This is the only one with splay leg & it keeps pulling off the bandaids.

Theres frizzles in coturnix and button quail

Both are kinda rare here in the US but yep it's possible that it is one. Their actually known as curlies though.

Let me see if I can get a pic & maybe ya'll can help me with the splay leg.

The bandaids won't stay on at all! Any other ideas?

I haven't had much luck with splay leg sorry I cant help you there. Shelley might have some advise I think she helped one?

I don't think the feathers show up as well in the pictures as IRL. Maybe ya'll can tell though... and I imagine it will become more noticeable as quail feather out so quickly.

The pictures are uploading to photobucket now.

If it is curly, I would really want to try and help it;)

I had a curly coturnix hen but I culled her, she wasnt laying eggs at all (i thought she was) and she was always in a continual molt.

My frizzle chicks' feathers looked like this one's at this point in feathering out. It is much harder to tell in the pictures.

But, I would really like to help with the splay leg... what fun would it be to have a curly quail???

My hen actually had curled flight feathers dramatically curled as well as dramatically curled tummy feathers and back feathers. Yours just looks like it has soft feathers to me which could be a deficency of some sort BUT it's too early to tell plus like you say its hard to tell in the pics

It is a coturnix. From the coloring, I think that it may be from one of the A&Ms... for a while I didn't have my A&Ms separated out.
