Frizzled Silkie VS. Sizzle

Hello Everyone,

I am not new to chickens, but I am new to Poultry Shows.I recently bought sizzles. Through some research, I have gathered that a frizzled cochin was originally used for the frizzled feathering, which in turn makes a Sizzle a mutt, pretty much, even though it was like 14 generations ago the cochin was originally used. SO, I guess my question is does frizzle naturally occur in a Silkie. Is a Sizzle and a Frizzled Silkie the same thing. If a Sizzle is just a Frizzled Silkie then do I show them under Silkies or All other Variety?? The Lady I bought from apparently does very well at Poultry shows, But her website said Sizzles are net yet a recognized breed, but are judged to the Silkie standard. I am VERY confused!!

Sizzles and frizzle Silkies aren't the same thing. Any breed can be frizzled, Silkies included. Sizzles are still a work in progress, and not a recognized breed, so yes they technically are mutts

I don't show, but I would think the frizzled Silkies would still be shown as Silkies and the Sizzles would be AOV.

Here's one of my Sizzle chicks, with its normal frizzled feathers.

I haven't gotten any frizzled Silkies yet while working on my project, so I snagged this picture from Google (so it's not mine, but another BYC members) but it shows the difference well. Frizzled Silkies still have the shredded Silkie feathers and they can be pretty difficult to tell apart from regular Silkies depending on how curled their feathers are.

Sizzles are NOT a recognized breed. AND ate no longer being called sizzles. When a frizzled , let’s say Cochin, breeds to a Silkie hen, those off spring will be a frizzled Cochin X Silkie Cross. Not a mutt , as this is a breeding project and different breeds are used at time to Improve qualities in Birds.when a couple of those offspring are them taken, and bred back to a Silkie to improve the Silkie traits in the birds. This process is repeated thru several generations until the birds have quality Silkie traits. These birds will be called according to feather type: ; Silkie feathers =Silkie.. = Frizzled feathers: Frizzled Satin == regular barbed feathers Smooth Satin.
