My five hens layed at least 4-5 eggs per day without fail. Two weeks ago, though, it all stopped. I've gotten three total eggs in the last ten days.

They free range, have access to feed, have plenty of water, show no signs of illness or molting, or anything. I'm stumped.

Is it the heat?

We had a hot summer last year as well but my hens never missed a beat.

If they are free-ranging, perhaps they have found a place that seems like a better place to lay on these hot days? I'd be looking in shady areas, under sheds, if they have access, and that sort of thing.

Yes, I should have mentioned how we scoured the yard, turning up nothing.

The heat here (96-100) and high humidity (70-90%) has stressed my flock to the point of low production.

Heat Stress can really put a damper on egg laying.

We are down from 10 eggs a day (small flock) to 3-4 - it's the heat. It's awful.
