From my head to my yard- coop and run

How do they get to it? Like thru the walls? I definitely do not want mites! Or rodents!!!!

Mites are almost microscopic and mice chew. Yes they chew their way into the wall cavities. Mites get in through every place the sheeting meets and window frames and siding edges.

Many years ago I had sheeting on the inside of a shed we turned into a coop. Mice were so nasty I tore the whole shed down. There were chewed holes on the studs so they could get to the next chamber. They had stuffed my birds feathers in there to make comfy places to raise more nasty mice.

It's this plan we printed out, but we are only using it as a guide.
Looks decent, at least it has some roof overhangs, even on the gable ends....that's good.
Couldn't see if there is any rafter blocking, but if there is, leave them out to have open soffits for winter ventilation.

How will you sweep it out? Some people create two doors on the back end and open both, which basically makes the back wall disappear and you can easily add, subtract, or clean.

Consider nest boxes that hang out. This way you can get the eggs from the outside. Also is easier to clean out.

I know I seem like I'm going a bit overboard and I appreciate you guys soo much! These girls are our babies, I've always wanted chickens. I want their home to be the very best we can provide, and it's not just a home for them, it's going to be my God place to pray, a place for our older children 9 and 11 to "camp out" and read scary stories to the girls, and our youngest (only 8mos now) to learn compassion and love towards all animals. I want them all to be happy and comfortable year round.

Thank you, my cousin owns a roofing company and was going to help with any material we don't have and would like. I know we have a roof vent

Wow! I did not know this! I have dealt with mites when I worked with reptiles, luckily none of my current rescues have had this issue, and they are such a pain to get rid of! I had to do repeated tank cleans and treatments! They literally looked like dirt specs.
If you guys say it's best to ditch the insulation I'll return it and use the money towards another window or something else!

Yup that's the best thing in my opinion.
While it can be time consuming mites can be limited by caulking every stud where it meets the siding and applying a good quality outdoor paint.
I did this to my 8x14 coop and don't regret it at all.
