We've had chickens for about 15 years, but they were pretty much my kids until about 2 years ago when I raised some of my own chicks for the first time.

We're down to 4 Buff Orpingtons, 3 Barred Rock, 1 Auracana, plus and old hen and a sick rooster because skunk hit us last month and a fox has been visiting this week! Never had predators like this before. Yikes!

I bought the backyard chickens book for my daughter a couple of years ago and it has proved to be quite useful.

On our acre we garden extensively. Other "free" time is spent training for triathlons, sewing, playing my flute, and studying Chinese. Oh, and learning how to invest in the stock market. :)

We have 7 kids, pretty much grown, and 1 dog that is, surprisingly, mine!

See you all around -

Hi and :welcome

Glad to have you here!!
Sorry to hear about the predators. Some people have two layers of chicken wire instead of one for extra protection from those. :p

Oh, and learning how to invest in the stock market. :) I like this one! Good luck! :thumbsup
You should check out the sister site about gardening if you haven't already as well.
