OMG, that is wayyyy off!! Doors that lead nowhere?? Ew. That does sound creepy. Is it a real place or just a legend? Sounds absolutely fascinating.

I still want to make my way down to St. Francisville here in La. and check out the "haunted" house. Yogi probably knows something of it.

It is absolutely real... and you can visit it. They do tours.

It's even been on those creepy History Channel ghost programs.

On Halloween and every Friday the 13th you can also go into the Winchester house and go on the flashlight tours.

I know on Halloween night they also call the sprits. Not sure about the Friday the 13th nights. It is creepy especially in one room ugggghh.

I went once when I was 8 yrs old and could not handle it. I had nighmares for weeks. I did NOT go on the flashlight tour just a normal tour during the day and the tour guides do not make it creepy at all. It is a beautiful house!

Some of my friend's have gone on the flashlight tour I think they are nuts they think I am one because I will not go. LOL

When we lived in Baton Rouge (1990-1995), my daughters' Girl Scout Troop spent the night at The Myrtles. Didn't see any ghosts though. She lived in St. Francisville for a while when she was first married.

Thanks for sharing those pics Amystours. I love stories about old houses. I'm surprised you never heard about Winchester Mystery house, that story has been told so many times on the History channel like Carrie said.

I get bored with that one because they always show it. But Longwood looks very interesting, I wonder why no one in the past that had some $$$ didn't buy it and finish it? Is it haunted by any chance?

There's a good book written about the Myrtles Plantation by a previous owner that used it as a bed and breakfast, but I forget the author's name.

I always wondered that about the houses that were never finished, there is a big castle that wasnt finished because the wife died or something. I was thinking to myself "why doesnt some rich person just buy it and complete it, then they could have a sweet house for cheap because it aint finished"

That is the one I am talking about. I was watching some show about American castles on the travel channel the other day, and that one was mentioned. From what they showed of what was done, it was awesome, and to think that it could just be abandoned like that, its crazy.

I think the sying about a broken heart ends all speaks of that place. there are many houses like that hidden away by overgrowth, there were two in our area like that the wife died and the husband just left it as it is.

They finished it up and its a historcal landmark now. I'v olny seen it from a boat (its on an island) and the place is HUGE! It had to have taken forever to build, no wonder she died before it was done......
