Well guess technically about 15miles from the geographical center but close<sf>
When we were country folk always raised a bunch of meat chickens but never kept chickens as a long term thing--last year started reading/seeing that towns allowed small flocks of chickens so checked around the area---found our small(2500) town didn't have any ordinance in place so asked the city fathers to draft one--and they did! The only dissenting voice was the alderman from our ward--so this year is chicken time
It will be a good experience for our 9yr old granddaughter that lives with us and being retired I can always use something to take up the day--
5 chicks are under a lamp in the garage awaiting transfer to the newly built coop(that was approved by the chief of police!) in a few weeks. There are 2 buff orphingtons, 2 australorps and one silver laced black wyandotte( one died after 2 days-it wasn't as active from the start and the extra care couldn't save her
Retired after 30+years in a steel foundry while wife still works in a paper mill for about 10more years or so---main pastime for the last 10yrs or so has been the world of competitive BBQ---retiring from that world(just got too expensive) to spend more time with family--2 grandkids--- granddaughter that is nine and lives in the bedroom next to ours and brand new grandson(6weeks) that lives in Tenn(only 11 hrs away) so we travel that way often!
Other member of the family is Lucy an eleven month old Golden Retreiver---she sure raised my activity level!!
We live within a mile or so of a boat landing so bought a pontoon a couple weeks ago----still waiting for the weather to warm enough to travel the river
