Got a new resident today. My brother, who raised the original flock of Ameraucanas and Wyandottes from chicks , gave me another from the same group. Hoping the intro will go well.

My plan is to keep the newbie next to the Run for today and tomorrow, then place her on the roost bar in the main coop after dark.

Question: ever since we brought home that new pullet the Ameraucana has stopped laying eggs. Been 3 days with no eggs.

Normal when introducing a new hen to the group?

I have no experience introducing new birds to the flock. My first flock was about ready to start laying and they all got killed by a dog (dog didn't survive). My current flock is 2 years old as of last Friday. I'm hoping to get a new group of Cinnamon Queens soon but not sure if I'll keep the with the current Rhode Island Reds or not. I'll have to see. The Cinnamon Queens will have the new coop that I'm working on now.

As for egg laying seems anything that upsets the system will cause a decline in egg laying.

Thanks JT. She started to lay again today.

The pecking on the newcomer has almost completely stopped so things should settle down from this point on.

Working on CAD plans for the new walk-in run that I will build in October when things cool off a bit.

@TexasWineGuy I just noticed you updated your avatar and I'm liking it very much, not much of a Glock fan but what the heck. At least I assume they are Glocks in the photo. I'm a 1911 and Tarus slim 9 fan and well revolvers too!

JT,

"Glock" is a bad word at my house. These are both Walther PPQ's, one a standard version and the other a Navy Tactical. Best shooting pistols I have ever owned, and I'm a former hard-core HK and Sig guy. Sold one Sig and one HK so I could buy these. They are exceptional.
