Frost bite

This may sound silly but my friend has a rooster that gets frost bit every year,her humidity is fine and she also puts vasaline on his comb but nothing helps.Its very cold here in northern Maine.She asked me if there was any kind of hat or anythng to put over their comb to keep it from getting forst bite.I have looked for hours now and can find nothing,BYC is my last hope for some infor on any type of covering for his comb

Some people prophylactically dub the combs and wattles on big combed breeds.

In hot climates that negates the benefit of the big combs though.
