What type of pen is he in? Needs straw to keep feet warm.Hi I have a mixed breed rabbit and he gets frost bite on the bottoms of his hind legs. We are putting ointment on it now but the ointment almost gone, what kind of essential oils can i put on his feet?
he has straw and he has a wire bottom in his cageWhat type of pen is he in? Needs straw to keep feet warm.
i have had rabbits with sore hocks so he might have sore hocks AND frost biteI think it is probably sore hocks, which appears to be a raw, bald patch of skin on the rabbit's hock. this is caused when a heavier rabbit lives in a hutch or cage with a wire bottom. All of my rabbits have cage mats to prevent this from happening. I would guess it's not frostbite because rabbits have thick fur on their paws/feet.
I will try to get a photo to you in the next couple of daysHmmm, not that I know of. Do you have pictures? That might help us assess what he might need.
it was cold enough for it to snow but now everything is basically thawed, so im guessing 30-40 degreesOk. How cold has it been where you live? It takes a lot to get a bunny cold.
