Hey guys we have a new member who has posted but nobody has responded.

Anyway she is wondering since she purchased a svart Hona rooster and 3 hens yesterday, the rooster looks like he has a rose comb but is still completely black, the breeder also said he was denailed as a chick…. But still has his spots … after some research I’m starting to think he either got frost bite at some point or isn’t actually svart Hona, is there any completely black chickens with rose combs, I’ve search everywhere with no luck, the hens all have single combs, also his nails are missing. Here are some pics.

Ya'know, it is possible that the tips of the toes were aputated to get rid of white tips (a fault). The toes do not look full length in the photo. Sometimes breeders will cut off white tips on the primary wing feathers too.. Sort of creepy.

How much did you pay, if we can ask?

This is one of the hens not as extreme as the rooster but still very sad, we paid 80 for the roo and 3 hens, I was told she just had too many chickens on the go and had to downsize

To me, this rooster looks to be at least 2-3 years old, having lost his crown and toes to severe frost bite. His wattles look rather strange too.
Thank you, I was thinking that was the case because one of the hens is missing a couple nails as well, very sad, I was told he was 2 and the hens were 1 and a half

Would you care to post some pictures of the hens too?

You might also want to take a look inside their mouths to see if the mucosa is black.
