Frostbite Rooster

I love how you're caring for him. I'm in Wisconsin too but we lucked out. Silkies don't usually get frostbite, since their combs are already very short and don't have much to comb. So if he has a complex down the road when he's lost some of his comb and wattles, just show him a picture of a silkie; that might make him feel better. :)

Kidding aside, as far as acclimating him back, as you know, we often have days with a 60-degree spread in 12 hours. They're pretty resilient to it. I'd wait until it's around a 30 to 40 degrees difference. Haul him out there in your coat, then slowly open it over the span of a couple of minutes. That'll give him time to adjust. I'd wait, though, until the several degrees below-freezing temps are over. That shouldn't be too long, I hope!
