I'm seeing alot of posts about frostbite.I have never had a problem with frostbite but, this year it seems I d:hmmne of my ladies has gotten it really bad I have treated her with bacitracin and brought her inside for the last month she seems to be doing well, altho misssing part of her comb. She still looks alittle pale tho and I am giving her electrolytes along with treating the rest of the flock. Is everyone else having more trouble with frostbite this year than they have in past years. It sounds like its been a terrible winter for everyone.

I haven't had a problem until this past winter. I wasn't at all prepared for it. I know that if I had put vasaline on the combs that would have protected them, but at this point that info is hindsight.
From what I understand the comb will heal, but not grow back. My birds that were affected seem fine - nice red combs and laying well. I didn't put anything on them. Maybe I should have???
Perhaps someone else with more experience with this can add some more information.

I put A&D on all my birds throughout the winter to prevent frostbite and it worked great. They actually liked being rubbed and "babied" that way, and their combs and wattles look so much better.

You can do a search on Frostbite - there's a ton of information on here regarding it and what to do for it. I'm also sure others will chime in that will assist as the night goes on.

Good luck!
