Noticed my girl had part of her side waddle gone today. We got our first snow yesterday and it’s already melting. It got down to 25 last night but inside the coop was 40 therefore I don’t think it is frostbite but I’m unsure? Included two photos of the injured side and a photo of the normal side.

What could have caused it, and what do I do to prevent it and treat it?

It is not frostbite. Frostbite would affect the comb before that area. And it takes at least days, if not weeks or several weeks for the affected part to auto amputate. It would be white and swollen, or black, first before falling off.

I don't know what it is, though.
