If his feet are frozen all the way through, he may lose them. But if they are partially frozen, you might be able to save them. Be sure that your coop is dry and the bedding is thick. Clean up any water spills. Here are some good articles about frostbite:

Sorry that this happened. Is there any way you can help her? If the feet are frozen solid it may be best to put the poor chicken down. Does she have some help from parents or aomeone there who could do something?

shes an older lady she is going to decide in the morning what to do she hopes to try to try putting hand warmers and vasoline on them

Well, that is really unfortunate. Tell her that getting feet wet can cause frostbite. Also sleeping on metal, such as a garbage can may help cause it as well. If temperatures get as low as some that you in MN have seen, it is difficult to prevent. It really helps to provide a wide roost board, such as a 2x4 with the wide side up, so they can sit on their feet at night.

I agree 100% with @Eggcessive They gave some great advice that you should definitely follow. You should keep the bird’s best interest in mind. If he’s suffering it’s not right.

thats what i told my friends she said she would set a heat lamp up in her garage and try in the morning if he is not doing better she will cull him what else can she do other than heat lamp

Isn’t there somewhere you could bring the bird, like maybe to a friends house or something? So at least his feet can thaw and help him recover hopefully.

her husband his sick and gets really bad allergies shecant bring him in
