Hello,
I read something today that said that frozen treats do more bad than good?? Besides always having clean water and shade, I usuall keep a frozen water jug in their coop and on really hot days I given them frozen treats.

However, the article said,
“when you give them ice or excessively cold treats, their bodies begin to cool down. The issue is that after a temporary cool-down (normally about 10-15 minutes), their bodies begin heating back up again. But this time, not naturally. Their bodies have already acclimated to the heat slowly with the rising of the sun, but now their bodies are forced to cool down naturally on their own while the temperatures are already hot and heavy. This can lead to heat stroke and heat exhaustion”

My question is, are the treats doing more harm?? Is this true??

Where did you find such awful speculations? That's evil stuff...

They cannot 'adapt' to the heat, the only mechanism they have to bring down their body temperature is 'panting' with their beaks open. If that is not enough and we don't intervene to cool them down somehow then sad things happen.

The other day I had an emergency with my blind quail, who was panting in an exaggerated, freakish way. Ran out of the house with water and soaked her feet and undercarriage - she calmed down and rewarded me with an egg a little later lol.
