Frozen water bottles in extreme summer heat?

Mine ignore ice bottles and won't use them. I put ice cubes in basins around the tree that they hang out under. That is also where the Ducks little swiming pool is and they drink out of that and the basins. Stand in the basins when they need to. When the Heat index is over 100 I water down the ground around the tree and that cools it down a good 10-15 degrees.

But I breed my own chicks so they are breed for the heat and humidity here. But they do appreciate frozen veggies and fruit during the hottest part of the day and when it is really humid. Of course soupy cooked mashed split peas with ice cubes floating in it is the coupe de gras on a hot day in the backyard, appreciated by ducks, chickens and teenage chicks one and all. The quail like ice cubes in their waterers. We use qa lot of ice cubes. I have been known in years past to use all ours and the neighbors too. But since I've been breeding my own that is not necessary, I don't need as many ice cubes as in years past.
