I've been adding apple cider vinegar to the girls' water this summer. Suddenly the food/water area of the coop is loaded with fruit flies. We are talking a swarm!

I also have had quite a few in my house on and off this summer. Checked on the internet as to getting rid of fruit flies in your house and go figure . . . the way to get rid of them is to put out a container with a couple of drops of dishwashing liquid and 1/2 inch of ACV.

The flies are attracted to the smell, fly in and get stuck with the dishwashing liquid. I tried it and it works.

I gave the girls plain water yesterday and washed down the area in case there were any sweet water spills; and today I'll set a bowl with ACV and dawn detergent outside the coop and hope the stupid swarm with migrate out there, go in for a drink and drown.

Anyone else ever have this issue with using ACV?

Never! Are you using Braggs its organic & has the mother in it ? I put one tablespoon per gallon of water.

The best trap for fruit flies is a container of apple cider vinegar and soap. They go nuts for ACV.

And I just saw that you had said you found that out already.
