Good'Morning Everyone,

I was just wondering if you feed your hens and roos fruit and veg??

Mine seem to love it and are happy to eat what they are given (alongside their normal food of course).

Dog food?? I've never heard of that one lol... I sometimes go to pets at home and get a couple of packs of crickets or mealworms and thet seem to love them...

My chickens get all sorts of fruit and veggies. I think the only thing they don't seem to like is asparagus.

They love tomatoes, strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, sprouts, cantaloupe, cut up apples, spinach.

They sometimes will eat lettuce or chard, or broccoli (I think they prefer it chopped up).

When our hens hear me approaching they run to me!

I know from the chatterring sounds they make that they are anticipating a treat of some type of table or trimmed vegetable or fruit scrap!

When I have a treat for them, they will fight one another and will even attempt to take it from another's beak!

Favorites are bread crusts, cantaloupe innards, pumpkin innards, and cooked oatmeal!

We give them lettuce, spinach, carrots (chopped up), tomatoes, apples, and strawberries. They'll get raspberries when they start bearing. I just can't bring myself to give them dog food, because it's made of chicken. It might be fine for them, but I'd feel kinda creepy about it. One of their favorite things is dandelions. I pick a handful and give them just the heads, and they run around the yard while the other chicks chase them. Don't do this if you spray your yard for weeds, though.

We hung a head of cabbage in the run and they didn't much care for it but when we hung the apples they went nuts. It was really fun watching them go after the apples as it was swinging around plus it made the apples last longer.

The girls seem to like vegies and not so crazy about fruits, except bananas. They go crazy for them.
