Frustrated about the availability of chicks

Personally I would be concerned about biosecurity with sellers on craigslist, ebay etc. You have no idea what conditions the flocks are in like backyard breeders and puppy mills. Get eggs shipped, less risk.
Sure, there is always some risk involved. That's why quarantine is always recommended, although that is no guarantee either. When you buy local, you can just walk away if you don't like what you see. The more I learn, it seems like there is no such thing as true biosecurity, unless they are in a bubble. The minute chicks go outside, they are exposed to disease. Everyone decides how much risk they want to take. I'm just saying there are alternatives, that's all. Not all of us are in a position to hatch eggs, either.

Unfortunately some nasty diseases can hide very well. Looking at my flock, one would never guess that they carry Mareks because if a bird starts showing symptoms, they're put down quickly.

I was looking for lavender and iris plants being divided for spring in the St. Louis area and I
saw these chickies in Shelbyville, Missouri:

Lol. It's like I can't get away from chickens all day. Maybe I need more? ROFL.
Chicken math is hard! My sister in law just bought a Lavender Orpington chick. Due to the craziness, I bought 6 random chicks ( 3 locally, and 3 from.a different state) sporadically and have 4 more on the way from Valley Hatchery at the end of June. I was also thinking of naming my 2 week old Blue Jersey Giant Iris.

Oh, I agree completely. I have presumed carriers of MS,Mg and ALV in my small flock. Happy, healthy and laying, one at 6 years. I do rescue and am willing to take that on. I'm just saying, between wind born, wild bird carried and comes in the egg disease, it's very hard to avoid. I think most folks just don't know what they may have, because they don't, or can't, have their chickens tested or necropsied and by a certain age, the survivors have some resistance and don't show signs. Again, just another way to go.

Thoughts on the flyer mockup? And is there a vector-based header graphic?
