Thank you for the replies! I switched to larger feeders and also covered the entire run with tarps (only half was covered): they are free-ranging, but it has been raining so perhaps they were a little crowded when trying to avoid the showers. My RI Red has now laid huge double yolk eggs 2 days in a row, and no more missing shells so far.
My EE does not have any open sores- the bully just carefully picks a feather and swallows it and then moves on... I even saw this happen one time when the two chickens were snuggled together in the sun after a dust bath. The EE did not even get up and move, so I'm not sure that it even hurts her. Hopefully the behavior will subside... although perhaps it has become a habbit (??).
