Frustrated with Buggy Feed

Every bag of Flock Raiser I bought for a while was infested (SERIOUSLY infested) with grain mites. I have had so many problems with Purina Flock Raiser.

I also believe that TSC buys a bunch of feed in bulk and then stores it until it sells. All the Flock Raiser at my 2 local TSC's had mill dates of June 2020 and have had the same mill date for 6 months at least. Maybe longer. Now the mill dates are January. Which in my opinion is still too old.


This pic was taken January 17th. Last month (March 2021) they still had the same mill dates.

Do the 50# bags have a similar date?

Wow! I always check mill dates but I guess with the frustration of this latest FR feed, I didn't realize how fresh it was. The mill date on the bag with the pictured bugs and larvae is March 25th 2021! That's pretty fresh in my opinion, especially to have this amount of bugs!

Tell the management, it might help.

Managers tell me that feed with a mill date up to 6 months old, is perfectly fine.

When told about the 263858 year old mill dates, they say that they'll speak with Purina at their next meeting.

Sure they do.

My two local TSC's has always let feed sit on the shelves until it sells. They seemed frustrated with me anytime I return old feed. I always hear "it's within a reasonable time frame according to Purina so it's still good".

When I lived in Flagstaff, I had a neighbor who worked at the Purina plant there. He said that after seeing how they make their feed, he would never buy their products. That makes me think twice about purchasing them. Just sayin'.

If I listened to anyone that worked anywhere, I probably wouldn't buy anything.
