Dry doesn’t mean you don’t add water. I sometimes have to add water to mine to keep it about 25. I live in a very dry climate.

Congrats. I am so glad to hear that lowering your humidity worked out well for you.Glad to report that mystery is solved.
I think it is humidity. Here are what I changed:
1 keep incubating humidity around 40 (in our area that means dry incubation).
2 manual turn 3-4 times per day. I seriously think duck egg wants to sit on the side.
3 keep egg level temperature at 99.5.
4 washed egg b/f putting into incubator.
After those changes, I got 22/25 for first batch of mixed ducks, and 8/8 for second batch of muscovies.
