Good luck with FTD. I always call a local place now dirrectly. This summer I sent my mom flowers from a place near her home and the manager e-mailed me a photo of the flowers from the shop before delivering to get approval. Awesome customer service. Why give the big company a cut of the local supplier anyway?

Alright- since we're talking flowers- I'm gonna give some tips and behind the scenes info that you may or may not know.

FTD and Teleflora and all those other 1-800 numbers charge you out the rear and all they are are a middle man- who make money off you and the local florist- which is why SOME floral shops don't send directly what you want- there is not enough money for the arangement once it gets to them. If you order flowers- it is ALWAYS best to call that particular flowers shop directly- if you're online it is very easy to look up a shop in your area or the area you want to deliver flowers- once you find a shop you like- it does well for you to become a regular customer- because all retail shops give discount and extras to regular customers- flower shops are no exception. Go online and look at their previous work so you know their style- know who you talk to so if there are problems you can (hopefully) get them solved. Flowers online are always overpriced. It may be easier to order right then and there- but you pay alot more for alot less-

alright now that I've said my piece- I hope this helps someone, Because this has bothered me in the past- so I know how henrysmom feels.

You're not alone I had a bad experience with them also. A couple of years back my DH sent me flowers though FTD on my Birthday. FOr the amount he paid we could have gone out to a nice dinner twice!

Well my Birthday is Valentines Day ( not the best day for a birthday I know) My flowers were dropped (literally) on the doorstep. I opened the box and I have a box of bare stems and a few petals still on the flowers. Not only were the flowers almost bare the petals were very wilted. NOT fresh flowers.

I called to complain and the lady with FTD was rude and told me the soonest they could reship was 4 days later. I told her my Birthday was today, I didn't want flowers almost a week later. She insisted that was the best they could do and would not give any kind of refund. DH ended up filing with the credit card company to get a refund.

We ALWAYS use out local florist. They are friendly, you get more for your money and I have never been disappointed even when sending things out of town. 1-800FLOWERS charges out the wazoo for their stuff too!

i learned from experience to go to a store and order them whenever possible. When a coworker had a baby we collected money and I called the local florist people recommended (I worked out of my area) I specifically told her I didnt want a bunch of baby pink and blue carnations, I wanted something colorful. We had plenty of money for what we wanted. Guess what she got? Pink carnations.

I complained and all she said was that wasnt what she sent, bull.... !

Dh used them once for my birthday too. He picked a bouquet that had the one specific flower that I LOVE, the local shop didn't even put that flower in there, put it in a vase I could have got at Walmart for $2.99. Dh spent over $80 and all they sent was the same wonderful $25 gift certificate for "compensation". I will never use them again. I love the internet, you can call local to where you want to send them and talk to a real person at a local shop to see what they actually have, this has worked great since then.
