Full Crop?

I have a four day old barred rock chick. He is the only one that hatched. He is eating chicken starter and I have introduced parakeet grit. The grit is on the side, not mixed in with the food. I have checked his vent, and it seems fine. Clean, not pasty. He is eating and drinking, running around like normal.

It seems like his crop is really full. When you feel it, it is hard, not mushy or anything. You can just see it and feel it, look like a lump on his right side, right above his wing. Is this normal? Is this what you would expect it to be like, or did I mess up with giving him grit?

I had a chick die last week with a ballooned crop, but his crop was mushy, like it was filled with fluid. I am just a little paranoid since that happened.
Am I overreacting, or is this normal?

Thank you...he is acting fine, I was just worried because I introduced the grit yesterday. I am paranoid after losing the other chick.
