I had to help these two out a bit, Now they're wrapped in damp napkins, so I hope they finish on their own. The strange thing is I candled the others really quick and saw veins and movement, but they are no where near hatching. Like 1-3 days behind. At stored together and all set at the same time. Crazy.
All went well ith the power outage, I did't open the incubator, so glad I didn't. I covered them with an afghan, so it was breathable. Power as out for about 3 hours. The chicks that had already hatched weren't in distress so I just left it go. I work up to 4 babies and the other 4 D'Uccle's are either pipping or zipping. That bator should be 100% hatch. In the Silkie bator I woke up to one Buf,f which started piping as power went out, and no other pips. (really bad air cell) It is 21 and I will just wait. The black/lavender split is what I thought would defiantly hatch, then the buff. Which we will call Heart, that was the shape of it's air cell. Will check back in later. Hope everyone else had a good hatch.

I have one out and the other, the first one actually, is still in the bottom half of the shell. Looks like I need to go in and help him again. I hate the fan in the Sportsman. I have no idea if it can be shut off, but I don't like it for hatching. These guys had a hard time. Membranes were dry and they were shrink wrapped. The other eggs are still going, but nothing seems to be ready to hatch yet. I hope this doesn't take days. Had that happen twice and it frove me crazy. Been up all night as it is because I wanted to keep checking on this hatch.
Now I'm anxiously staring over top of the incubator to see it hatch...my kids think I'm nuts!!
They love to see the chicks hatch, but I usually wait until the last couple eggs to even tell them the chicks are hatching, otherwise they want to try to take the lid off all day!!
Hoping everyone has a good hatch
...it will be day 21 for me today at noon...so, things seem right on schedule here!
But I'm trying to figure out why what should be an Olive Egger or plain ole EE looks like this. His mom is a pick egg laying splash EE with no muff. ?????
None to the roos have light legs, lav and blue AMs, blue and black and silver EE and FBCM, so huh? Oh and look at that comb! Looks single and both chicks have a huge comb. Geeeeeeeeeeee I wonder what that means??? Like I don't know already. Plus he is soooo loud!
How does the song go??? I'm so excited, I just can't hid it, bum bum!!!
I had 25 BA eggs at lockdown on the 27th Sun. On Wed. the 30th at 0100 the hatch began and lasted until 2200 last night with 14 BA's happy and healthy. There are 11 eggs left with no pips. My question is how long do I wait until they could possibly explode???
All the eggs were shipped from the infamous Hot2Pot and I am a happy camper with the results so far!
How is hatch rate calculated? If you go by original amount set, say 40. You don't even know if they are fertile until you candle, so can lockdown be used for the amount calculated against the actual hatch at the end. That seems fair to me, but nothing is fair in love, war, and chicken addiction.

I've had day 25 hatches, so I leave them at least that long.
I'm trying to get a pic up of chick number 2. Went to put him back in and have one zipping. It wasn't even pipped when I grabbed this one out, so I hope it will be alright. No more opening the door till i watch and see what's going on in there.

Hatch rate is the ones that make it to lockdown.
For pics just click the upload link and a window will open up. Just add your pics and then copy and paste the link. The second one is much better to use BTW.
